Collection: Any Tool Is A Weapon If You Hold It Right

This piece, Any Tool Is a Weapon If You Hold It Right, is a reflection of my belief in the transformative power of everyday tools when wielded with intention and purpose. Drawing inspiration from feminist movements, particularly the DIY aesthetics of riot grrrl and punk culture, I wanted to create something raw and unapologetic—something that demands attention and provokes thought. I reinterpreted Banksy’s Girl with Balloon by having her reach toward the feminist symbol as children are typically associated with innocence and vulnerability. She serves as a reminder that feminism is about creating a future where even the most vulnerable can wield power. For me, the raised fist within the Venus symbol (the feminist logo) serves as a beacon of empowerment, suggesting that feminist liberation is both the goal and the reward for those who "hold their tools right". My aim for this piece was to create a visual call to action in the feminist movement. It reminds viewers that empowerment is not bestowed—it is taken, shaped, and wielded. The tools for liberation are already within reach, and meaningful change can occur through solidarity, creativity, and action.
